Accessible Enrollment with Flexible Scheduling
Enrollment is available year-round, including summer months, to ensure families have flexible access to care when they need it most.
Our center offers convenient enrollment hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays, and families may coordinate with administration for evening or weekend appointments when needed.
In cases where the center has reached capacity, a waiting list is maintained. Families are notified promptly when an opening becomes available.

What is a PPEC??
Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) is a licensed, non-residential medical daycare program that provides skilled nursing care, therapies, and developmental support for medically fragile children from birth through 20 years of age.
What is required for a child to be admitted to a PPEC?
To be admitted, a child must have a medically complex condition that requires skilled nursing care, be under 21 years of age, have a physician’s order or prescription for PPEC services, be medically stable at the time of admission, and have consent from a parent or legal guardian. The child must also not present an active contagious infection risk to others.
What are the most common conditions you support?
We commonly care for children who require:
- Gastrostomy tube feeding
- Tracheostomy care
- Seizure management
- Diabetes care
- Oxygen support
- Pulse oximetry monitoring
- Apnea monitoring, central line care, ostomy care, and pre- or post-surgical care, as well as children experiencing failure to thrive.
Who pays for PPEC services?
PPEC services are typically covered by Medicaid for eligible children who have a physician’s order. In some cases, insurance or other reimbursement options may also apply. Our team assists families in understanding coverage and completing the enrollment process.
Is my child at risk of getting sick at the center?
No. Infection control is strictly maintained at all times to protect all children in our care, who are medically fragile. Children showing symptoms of contagious illness are not permitted to attend until they are medically cleared, ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
What services do you offer?
We provide skilled pediatric nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy support, developmental and social activities, an after-school program, coordinated medical transportation, and family support services.
Is transportation provided?
Yes. We offer safe, coordinated transportation to and from approved locations for eligible children. This service is typically covered by Medicaid, with no cost to qualifying families.
Are children alone during transportation?
No. Children are always accompanied by trained staff members who ensure their safety and provide appropriate supervision throughout the entire transport process.
Is Abby Pediatric Care licensed or accredited?
Yes. Abby Pediatric Care is licensed and regulated by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and operates in full compliance with all state PPEC requirements and standards.
